Why is Megalodon important?

The study of Megalodon teaches us that top marine predators can become extinct! Currently, several shark populations are declining all over the world due to overfishing, pollution,  and habitat alteration. The latest, affecting mainly shark nursery areas such as the one that existed in Panama millions of years ago.
